4/24/14: White Sox Split Series In Detroit

Chicago, IL- Miguel Cabrera hit the go-ahead two-run RBI single in top of the seventh as the Tigers beat the White Sox 7-4.

Rajai Davis went 3 for 5 with 2 RBI for the Tigers in the leadoff spot. He hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth, and had an RBI double in the bottom of the eighth. Miguel Cabrera went 2 for 4 with 3 RBI. Both Nick Castellanos and Bryan Holaday went 2 for 4 with 1 RBI. 2013 AL Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer pitched six innings of two-run ball, and also struck out ten White Sox batters. Joe Nathan earned his fourth save of the season.

Cleanup man Adam Dunn went 2 for 4 with 1 RBI. Dayan Viciedo continued with his hot bat, going 3 for 4. Alexei Ramirez went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI. He had a sacrifice fly, and an RBI single. Gordon Beckham went 0 for 4 with 3 K in his first game back in a White Sox uniform. Jose Quintana started for the White Sox, as he went six innings, gave up seven hits, three earned runs, and struck out three. Maikel Cleto and Daniel Webb both gave up a combined four runs out of the bullpen.

The White Sox start a four-game series with the Rays at the Cell next. The first game will consist of a match-up between young nighties Chris Archer and Erik Johnson. First pitch is at 7:10 PM CT on April 25, 2014.
